WORTHING JUST WANT TO GO HOME

COACH Mick Orton slapped the "Bad day at the office" label on Worthing's first league defeat but only their second in eight matches this season. Cambridge went top of the table with victory by three goals and two penalty goals, to two tries by Worthing hooker Simon Alcott.

He explained: "We made some wrong decisions at times, it was one of those games when it didn't matter what we tried to do. We were trying to force it, we didn't have our game playing and we handed it to them.

"It was a big game. But what we've got to learn is that every game is different and that we've got to choose a different game plan, look at the opposition and adjust it accordingly.

"The Cambridge defence is quite solid, the centres are quite well-matched with ours but we could have the edge in the forwards. I'm sure it'll be a different story when they come to play us down here."

Up 3-0 with a penalty, Cambridge took their opportunity when an injured Duncan Taylor, on the wing, could only try to flip the ball back to wing Gavin Stephens and the opposition kicked through to score. Ben Coulson missed two kickable Worthing penalties, then his side's error at the kick-off to the second half resulted in another converted Cambridge try, followed by a penalty for a 20-7 lead.

Individual driving strikes by Alcott made the score 10-7 and 20-14.
