Crowhurst and District plant sale hailed a '˜success'
The event, held as part of the monthly village market on May 7, attracted a large crowd and Crowhurst and District Horticultural Society’s chairman, Mary Boorman thanked everyone who donated plants, pots and ‘a lovely Bird Table’ to sell to raise funds.
“The sun shone and many people visited us,” she said.
“They bought plants and related items, alongside enjoying the other stalls at the market. It was a really happy morning and the sun shone.

Mary said some of the funds raised from the event will go towards purchasing gardening items that the local primary school require to start their RHS Rocket Science project.
Sunflower seedlings were also donated to the village playgroup for the children to grow and enjoy.
“Fundraising assists the society to keep ‘afloat’ and to purchase items as required,” she said. “It allows us to run other events throughout the year in addition to our three flower shows.
“Many thanks for all your help and happy gardening.”

The society’s next event will be the annual Summer Flower Show, on August 13. It will be part of the Village Fayre which will be held on the recreation ground.
The show schedule will be available online and locally from the end of May and Mary encourages anyone to have a go at entering.
“It is fun and all are welcome,” she said.
