Engineers looking into power cut at Polegate

UK Power Networks has confirmed engineers have been assigned to 'locate and fix the issue' brought to their attention soon after 5pm.

A spokesman added: "We became aware of the fault at 17:08. The cause is a fault with an underground cable in the Polegate BN26 5/6 area, our engineers were dispatched to site at 17:13.

"The current status of the issue is that we've assigned engineers to locate and fix the issue; they are now on their way, the estimated timeframe to have power back on is 18:30 to 19:30."

The power cut has affected rail services, with Southern Rail saying trains may be cancelled or delayed until 7pm. Read more on that here.
