Gritters out in force on Sunday night ahead of wintry weather

Gritters will be out on the county’s roads at 7pm tonight (Sunday) ahead of a warning of wintry weather across East Sussex over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office have issued a weather warning for the south-east for the next four days with a forecast of sleet and snow showers.

For tomorrow (Monday), the Met Office has predicted that temperatures will barely rise above freezing with outbreaks of sleet and snow throughout the day, which could accumulate in places. The strong to gale force north-easterly wind will bring a significant wind chill.

East Sussex County Council’s gritters will be working on the primary routes from 7pm tonight and snow routes from 9pm, with some snow forecast from 10pm onwards.

The weather forecast for Tuesday is predicting outbreaks of sleet and snow, with a brisk north-easterly wind giving a marked chill.
