These photographs capture the moment a frog met a grisly end in the jaws of a grass snake.

The stunning pictures were sent to our Animal Magic section by reader Stuart Power, from Boxgrove.

“This 2ft grass snake swam across my fish pond this morning, seized a frog, and proceeded to swallow the unlucky amphibian,” he said.

“The frog disappeared from sight in about two minutes.”
