Animals have been lit up for Christmas to raise money for Wadars Animal Rescue Charity, near Worthing.

The animal-themed Christmas lights display in Gorse Avenue, Worthing, has been put together by John Wollaston Landscapes and Property Maintenance.

John said: "I have installed the Christmas light display for my customers for the second year running. We are raising money for Wadars charity and we are trying to make it more known, as we try to build on it. We aim to go bigger and better each year."

Gillian Hallett’s display at 22 Gorse Avenue was switched on at the end of November. The light display will be switched on every day from 4.30pm to 10.30pm in the run up to Christmas, and visitors are encouraged to put a donation into the collection box.

Jenny Freeman, Wadars fundraising manager, said: “Wadars is a registered charity and we rely almost entirely on donations, legacies and fundraising from our local community to make our work possible. We are extremely grateful to Gillian for staging the display in aid of Wadars and hope that lots of local people go along to see all of the effort that she has put into it.”

Wadars is currently looking for forever homes for a number of dogs, cats and other small animals in its care.
