SUNDAY CINEMA: on 17 April at 3pm is Bridge of Spies (12a). A Cold War thriller inspired by true events, of a Brooklyn lawyer sent by the CIA on a near impossible mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot, in exchange for a Russian spy. WOLSTONBURY WI: Tuesday 19 April at 7.45pm at the Village Centre, Club Suite. Downton Revisited by Katherine Collet is the subject of this month’s meeting, and any interested non-members are welcome.

VILLAGE CINEMA: Friday 22 April at 7.30pm. 99 Homes (15) is a gripping tale about a single father desperately trying to support his son and his mother, who goes to work for the ruthless business man who evicted them from their home.

DANCE AT DANNY: on Saturday 23 April in aid of the reMEmber charity, which raises funds for ME research and sufferers. Tickets are £15 each. There will be live music from the 60s for dancing to, from the Michael Gyverny Quintet. A cash bar will be available to quench the thirst and a raffle with posh prizes. RECYCLING: The Bra Bank has moved from Columbines to the Community Shop, and takes all styles and states of wear. Depositing unwanted or unloved bras in the bank helps to raise vital funds towards research to improve detection and increase survival after breast cancer diagnosis. Saved from landfill, they go to start a new life in poorer countries where small businesses sell them to support their families, but also bras are too expensive to be produced there locally. For each tonne collected, Against Breast Cancer receives £1,000 to fund research.

THE COMMUNITY SHOP: is looking for helpers as the numbers have fallen considerably over the last few months and the team is struggling to find enough people to stay open for the usual hours. If a dozen people can volunteer just two hours a week or fortnight then this popular staple of village life will be able to continue as it is. Sessions are 9-11am, 11am-1pm and 2-4pm, except Wednesdays. It has been going for 15 years, providing a service to the village taking in donations and selling a wide variety of objects at amazing prices, and giving back as contributions, to Hurst events and causes.
