Lindfield Arts Festival: Plans are well under way for the weekend of 17th and 18th September. This year's festival will loosely collaborate with Haywards Heath's 175th celebrations of the railway with a Victorian theme. Supporters and volunteers are always welcomed. Email to: [email protected]

Lindfield Cricket Club: This is one of the oldest sports clubs in Sussex. Cricket was first played on the common in 1747 (as correctly noted by Jenny Harding.) The club offers senior cricket for all abilities running 4 league teams, a friendly X1 and 20/20 mid-week fixtures. There is a great social scene for all members. Lindfield Horticultural Society: At 8pm on the 9th March in the King Edward Hall there will be a talk by Howard Wood MBE called “ An Insight into Oathall School Farm.” Entry £1 members, £3 visitors. All welcome.

Mid-Sussex Ramblers Association: On March 9th at 7.30 for 8pm in the Jubilee Room of the King Edward Hall. Trevor Povey will give a lecture about “ Mystery Towers and Concrete Ships” . These were built during WW1 to protect Shoreham Harbour. £3 on the door with refreshments included. (Brian Judge 01273 834251.)

Reminder: Wednesday March 9th. Lunchtime Concert in the United Reformed Church at 1pm. Lewes Old Grammar School Choir. Light lunches served from 12.15pm.

Country Market :on 10th March from 10-11am in the King Edward Hall. Everyone welcome and lots to buy.

Jumble Sale: in aid of Haywards Heath Lions Club. Saturday 12th March from 12-2pm in the King Edward Hall. There will be lots of good quality bric a brac, clothes, linen, books and toys. Also a tombola and refreshments. Please bring jumble to the Hall at 9am. For collection in advance ring: 07711 018479.

Sussex Life in Flowers: All Saints Church is organising a flower arranging demonstration by NAFAS demonstrator Gill Sadler on the 12th March to raise funds towards the church bells at All Saints and Chichester Cathedral restoration. Start is 2pm. Tickets £8. On the door or in advance from 01444 484272 or 01444 415153.

Ashdown Singers Choir Concert: This is on Saturday 12th March at 7.30pm at the United Reformed Church. The concert will consist of Anthems and Motets by Elgar, Howells and Schutz and excerpts from The Crucifixion by Stainer. There will be a retiring collection in aid of St Peter and St James. Tickets can be bought from the church on the day of the concert.
